We had the opportunity to collaborate with one of the renowned group ‘GENERATION’. For this project I developed designs for Apparel Autumn /Winter 2020-2021 in prints for the industry. For this purpose basketry theme was selected for their cottage line.

The research is focusing on basketry which is a part of Sindhi culture and our traditional craft. Basketry weave include woven chabbas, fans, baskets, room mats, chairs, stools and wide variety of everyday use items. It is a common craft of Punjab and Sindh and is practiced in whole country.

As cottage line of generation is focusing on regional crafts and hand embroidery I am going to incorporate pattern made on basketry in clothing. Basketry focuses mostly on tribal patterns including geometric patterns and check pattern and are often decorated with frills, beads and hand embroidery. They are attractive due to its woven texture and multicolored patterns.

I selected the word whimsical because of playful Textures and pattern in basketry weave. How they experiment with material, colors and mischievous Patterns are due their whimsical approach
